This page contains the meditations performed during the “Being positive – Positive being” study day held on Friday the 29th March in the Palace Hotel, Inverness. The day was intended as a celebration of the joyful simplicity of mindfulness meditation practice and as such the practices performed owe much to the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh. His books continue to inspire and motivate many mindfulness practitioners.
Practice 1 – Deeply relaxing body scan – a 36minute practice using the breath to release tension and stress within the body. Please note that this recording does not start with the ringing of a bowl (I forgot to press the record button) and about half way through the practice is briefly disturbed by someone knocking at the door.
Practice 2 – Conscious breathing sitting practice – a 33minute sitting practice very much in Thich Nhat Hanh’s classic tradition of focussing on the flow of the breath and the joy of life.
Practice 3 – No boundaries body scan – a 31minute practice in which the body is scanned and in which the boundaries of the body are explored. What are the limits to awareness?
Practice 4 – Peace is every breath sitting practice – 25minutes of sitting practice using the breath to come to rest, to explore the possibility of no separation.
Practice 5 – Self-compassion – a 25minute practice drawn from Thich Nhat Hanh’s writing – mainly from his book entitled “Happiness”.
