This page contains the recordings made on the “Staying open with ourselves and others” study day at the Palace Hotel on the 24th May 2019. There are 4 practices and one summary of discussion as follows: –
Practice 1 – “Staying open” body scan – this is a 33minute body scan designed to hep participants be more aware of the judgements and the analysis that the mind is always making about body sensations and how we can practice being more open with ourselves using these sensations.
Practice 2 – “Being open” sitting practice – a 32minute sitting practice in which participants rest in open awareness of their 5 senses and then gradually open to whatever is arising in the mind. In other words we practise resting in open awareness of the movements of the mind.
Summary of the mornings discussion about being open with difficult thoughts and feelings, about levels of feeling and the manner in which realisations can arise from being with feelings.
Practice 3 – “No – Yes – Sense of space” meditation practice – a 30minute sitting practice in which explore the effect of denying and accepting thoughts and feelings on the mind and how a sense of space can arise in the mind that allows us to be open to whatever is there.
Practice 4 – Sitting kindly with ourselves – a 30minute kindness and caring meditation practice in which we sit and open to our thoughts and feelings with a sense of being kind to ourselves.
