WHAT IS REALITY?

This page contains meditations recorded at a study day entitled “What is reality” that took place on Friday the 12th January 2018. The day was intended as a basic introduction to the concepts of relative, conventional and ultimate reality and to show how an understanding of these can help to relieve our suffering. It is hoped that further study days will be held on this topic and that more meditations will be added to this list.

1. Levels of consciousness meditation – a 45minute meditation practice looking at the 6 senses, the sense of self and the nature of awareness.

2. Resting with what is – a beginner’s meditation on the processes of perception – a 30minute meditation practice.

3. Resting in awareness body scan – a 30minute body scan designed to increase awareness and to practice being with our experience.

4. Duality – a 20minute meditation on the subject of duality. This meditation was recorded because the group highlighted duality as being one of the main features of conventional reality.

5. Compassion and self-compassion meditation – a 25minute meditation practice to conclude the day with the message that compassion practice is central to making progress in meditation.
